Do you know what is the real game changer when it comes to success in anything we do in life?
People who demonstrate a consistent level of grit will generally achieve more in life, learn more about themselves in the process and will find motivation and drive to do what they want more easily.
You can too!
Now grit does come more naturally to some as it is part of their make up however grit is also taught and is a major part of the life experience.
How to cultivate grit?
1. The brain is a muscle that is built through “movement and thought.”
Firstly you must establish a growth mindset. If you are fixed in your ways and ignorantly move through life on a flatline of understanding based on what you think you know, you will not be able to progress.
Meaningful change in the mind, character and intelligence is not achievable when the mindset is fixed.
Unlock it and be willing to learn is the secret. Once you do all your failures will then become opportunities and all your beliefs will evolve.
2. Focus on process and not just outcome.
Once you understand process you will understand success. All outcomes are a result from process. If you want a goal you need to understand the steps to get there. If unsure try reverse engineering your process and learn to see the path.
Always establish a process and make sure it is realistic and measured.
3. Persevere despite failure.
No one has ever won anything by quitting when things got tough. It takes hard work to get to where you want to be and the word “hard” just means it takes perseverance. The steps and process is always the same, you just have to take some hits and keep going.
Not everything can be achieved in an instant and it is important that we maintain our ability to persevere through long-term projects and challenges.
I suggest researching the failures of successful people and learn to understand it was their failures and the lessons received that ultimately taught them how to achieve success.
4. Measure progress
Be sure to measure and acknowledge your progress. Understand where you are going, how far you have come and how far you still need to go. One step at a time and make sure you measure the steps and take notes on what works, what doesn’t and what you need to adjust.
Your success is not measured by the end result however by the steps it took to get there.
5. Acknowledge grit
Don’t wait to the end of your journey to seek praise or a reward. Make sure you humbly praise yourself for the work you have done and acknowledge every positive step you make. If you can make one positive step, you can take another. Simply repeat the focus and energy. It all comes down to the vibrations you present to yourself. Be kind and keep going.
Repeat what works. Acknowledge your grit.
