“I think. Therefore, I am.”
It appears that thoughts are one of the major issues people have in regard to daily stress and management of anxiety. How do we manage stress from over thinking or what I call brain noise?
Who has thoughts pop into their mind without permission?
How fast does a new noisy thought come into your mind?
“I think. Therefore, I am.”
The fact that you and I can think, reflect on the past, imagine the future, even to be conscious of our own consciousness is what distinguishes humans from all other animals however I am convinced animals probably do a better job of managing their brain than we do.
They are still connected to the Earth and it seems more so than the Human race currently is.
We have lost touch and are somewhat disconnected with the energies of life.
“Thoughts can be our best friends and our worst enemies.”
How you perceive and experience the world around you is a reflection of how you think. What you think can determine your actions.
In other words, if the world around you is an unfriendly, hateful, scary, and judgment-filled place, generally it is because of the thoughts you focus on?
That is what you will see more often. Your mind creates the reality through prioritisation of energy.
Often we project onto the world, as well as onto other people, the afflictive, negative thoughts and emotions that we cannot admit or refuse to acknowledge.
More and more, I am convinced you and I create the world in which we live.
“Change the way you look at things and the things you look at change.”
Want to change your inner and outer world?
Better control your mind, as well as your thoughts.
1. Meditate daily.
Meditation does not need to be a yogi thing or look like a Buddhist monk routine.
This can be as easy as taking in some deep breaths, listening to some music in the right frequencies and simply slowing down the mind consciously.
Taking a time out.
If you’re one of those persons who quickly excuses yourself as having tried meditation and discovering it does not work for you, that’s the first thought you need to change.
Why? Because it isn’t so.
So much of our thinking is deceitful.
You can learn to meditate and if you want to learn to control your thoughts and your thinking you need to develop techniques that work for you.
Trial and error.
2. Observe your thoughts.
Don’t judge them, observe them. Don’t criticise them, observe them.
For example: Let’s say you have a judgmental thought about a colleague at work and instantly you jump into judgment mode toward them. Pretty horrible place to be and it gets worse when you find fault within yourself for even thinking something negative about someone else.
He who judges only judges themselves.
I would suggest an alternative solution to unwanted thoughts.
Thoughts are neither right or wrong. They are just thoughts.
It’s what you do with your thoughts that introduce the “rightness” or “wrongness” of them.
“You cannot keep a bird from flying over your head; what you can do is prevent it from building a nest in your hair.”
Be the observer of your own thoughts, even the ones that frighten you.
3. Cultivate The Space
This space is the place of internal peace. It is what some call “pure consciousness.”
I have managed to find a way to manage my thoughts, control the traffic and know when to switch it on or off.
I believe a dedicated focus on learning, expansive thinking, task achievement and clear changes in my lifestyle and helped this process.
The less material I have become, the more in control of my mind I seem to be.
It comes down to knowing you have a choice.
Better management of your own life and doing the things that you really want to do will always cultivate a better aligned mind.
Listen to your body and mind. It is telling you when to deal with things.
Write them down and cross them off.
Each time you do you have dealt with a thought for what it was…a message.
You are not your thoughts.
You are the creator, interpreter and the driver.
